- Jack Quinn's Running Club is still going and growing strongly. Everyone is meeting downtown on Tuesday nights around 6 p.m. Strollers and children are welcome on the run and in the pub after. I see quite a few canine companions running. Does anyone know if dogs are welcome? Contact the pub to confirm or someone post here if they know. Complete 10 runs and you get a free t-shirt for your accomplishment! Don't forget that it is dark at 6 now, and you might want to wear a headlamp.
- Snow days? We all know the snow doesn't stick around for long in the Springs. Here today and gone tomorrow is a common sight for even our strongest blizzards. Take advantage when it snows and get out there with your sled and hot chocolate. Not sure where to go? Many of our parks and schools have good sized hills perfect for sledding. Locals? Where is your favorite sledding spot?
- Head to the slopes. The high country offers many different ski resorts to feed your ski demon. Our resorts are all located along the I-70 corridor. Each resort has different opportunities for all levels of expertise. What's your favorite?
- Go on - Get up there! Our local mountains offer all kinds of different activities to be able to enjoy nature. Snowshoeing and winter hikes are common activities here. Take a hike in Garden of the Gods after the sun sets. The moonlight reflecting off the snow makes for an amazing adventure. Manitou Lake, which is near Woodland Park, offers year round fishing. Keep in mind your mountain safety rules!
- CC Tigers Rule! Attending a hockey game at the World Arena is a great way to spend an evening cheering on our local college team. The World Arena also is host to many different activities such as concerts and shows. The World Arena Ice Hall is open to the public so head over to show off your own talents. The Sertich Ice Center in Memorial Park also offers public skating and lessons.
- Cheer on our Pikes Peak Derby Dames. Enthusiasm and support for our dames continue to grow within the Colorado Springs community. Their home bouts are all at the Colorado Springs City Auditorium, located at 221 East Kiowa.
- Climb, climb, climb. Climbing gyms are located throughout the Springs, offering many different types of packages to appeal to different skill levels. Many of the gyms will also offer lessons to beginners wanting to learn how to climb.
Settling In...Or Not
The coffin races are over, and the aspen trees are now bare. We have weathered through two mild snowstorms and have winterized our homes. This does not mean we are planning to nest the winter away snug in our homes - no way!
